St. Patrick Catholic School is committed to quality education within a Catholic environment. Consistent with this commitment, we have established an admission policy which fosters family involvement in the parish.
St. Patrick Catholic School does not discriminate against students in admission or participation in any school program or activity on the basis of race, ethnic origin, sex or handicap which is unrelated to the student’s ability to utilize and benefit from the educational opportunities, programs and facilities offered by the school.
All students are expected to participate in all instructional programs offered by the school. Parents are expected to support and cooperate with all educational and administrative policies of the school. Parents who do not abide by school policies or instructional programs and/or who are disruptive in their actions to such may be asked to withdraw their children from the school.
Every new student will be admitted to our program on a trial basis for nine (9) weeks. If there is consistent poor behavior, poor attitude or inattention to academics during this probationary time, the student will be asked to leave at the end of the nine (9) week period.
Students who are not recommended for promotion in their previous school may not be accepted to the next grade at St. Patrick Catholic School. Students requiring special support services will be considered on an individual basis and must be able to perform in a regular classroom. Their status will be reviewed annually. We reserve the right to deny admission to any child whose needs we do not have the resources and ability to meet, or whose parents are motivated by concerns not consistent with the goals of the school or the policies of the Archdiocese of Detroit. If this is determined, parents may be requested to place the child in a school elsewhere or may be denied readmission the next year. Parents who disagree with this recommendation can appeal that decision to the pastor and a review committee appointed by him.
All students shall comply with State of Michigan required Immunization and Health Laws prior to admission.
A copy of the student’s latest report card from the two previous years with final grades and attendance, as well as copies of any standardized test scores, and/or special support service evaluation reports must be brought to St. Patrick Catholic School at the time of the student’s screening. All students will be tested to determine eligibility and placement. Admission is considered incomplete until all these criteria have been met. *If after acceptance, it is found that any of the required information had been withheld, admission to St. Patrick Catholic School may be forfeited with no refund of the registration fee.
Students applying for admission from other parochial schools must submit a letter from their previous school stating that there is no outstanding balance on tuition or fees.
Priority for admission to St. Patrick Catholic School follows this order:
All kindergarten students must be five years old by September 1st and show that they are developmentally ready according to the Gesell Readiness Screening in order to be accepted. All students in grades 1-8 may be assessed prior to admission.
Currently enrolled students are given first priority.
Siblings of currently enrolled students will be given second priority.
Tenure in the parish is determined by parent’s date of parish registration and will be given third priority.
Parishioners of other Catholic parishes will be given fourth priority.
Non-parishioners and non-Catholics will be given fifth priority.
The Pastor’s considerations will be the final determination of any admission.
Kindergarten screening will be the first week of June. Testing for grades 1-8 will be in March or April. A mandatory, non-refundable $25 testing fee will be required on the day of testing.
